Landscape intervention in the Parco Lineare, San Michele di Ganzaria, Catania, Sicily
Honourable Mention. International Landscape Design Prize Torsanlorenzo, Rome, Italy
Pathway of senses, a passage under the railway line as an intervention that emerges from the landscape to define and discover a new place. A connection between the Linear Park to a pond at the base of a hill.
The route begins with a natural passage where the visitor enters into a scent field of finocchio flowers. The path ends on a platform suspended over the pond. Along the pathway, visitors discover small pavilions that act as reflection spaces and landscape observatories. The intervention explores architecture, art and landscape, experimenting with different materials through self-construction along the linear path . The hidden landscape integrates small viewing pavilions made of natural local elements (river canes, hay, firewood and earth).
The project is the result of the collaboration between the studio as directors of the workshop Construire Naturale, and the architects, students of architecture and landscape: Eliana Baglioni, Claudia Biondi, Claudia Brunelli, Francesco Garofalo, Alice Palazzo, Antonio Privitera and Silvia Salvatorelli.
