bodyscapes of winter frost

Lakeland | Jyväskylä, Finland

The ephemeral work explores and reflects on the relationship between the body and the poetic seasonal cycles of waterscapes. The Lakeland region of Finland, with the lakes of Jyväskylä—Jyväsjärvi, Palokkajärvi, and Tuomiojärvi—provides the context for these explorations. The bodyscape-piece honors and highlights the dynamic processes of transformation, focusing on the phenomenological and metaphorical aspects of water, particularly in its solid state—ice. This transformation unfolds to create corporeal frost-bound landscapes, embodying the ephemeral and evocative nature of water as it transitions between its forms.
